Perspective, or the way we see things, has great influence on our behavior and understanding. Your relationship with Life is impacted strongly by how you view Life and its various happenings. Often, we have the mindset of having been born into the world or coming into the world. Where did you drop from?
Life is made up a myriad of intelligent units that are all performing specific functions in the grand scheme of existence. Science has taught us that each intelligent unit emerged out of the combinations of two or more simpler intelligent units. From the combination of two elements a compound is formed. From the fusing of male and female gametes, an organism is formed.
Science continues to find intelligences underlying others and have gone beyond the atom as the smallest unit of matter to discover protons, neutrons, electrons, and others; and the search continues. The idea of creation assumes an extraneous entity that possibly evoked what it created from nowhere, and from nothing, into being. Science and Nature tell otherwise. A better explanation than the idea of creation is that every entity is emergent from some other thing(s) – an outcome of different levels of intelligent integration, differentiation and expansion of matter. One can always look back at the great many units of intelligent matter that constitute and shape each organism we find in nature. We are all units of life that emerged from other units of life with ever increasing complexity and intelligence.
At the apex, presumably, of all emergences on the system we refer to as earth stands humanity. We are proven to be more complex in our being and more intelligent in function than any other unit of Life on earth. You can look at each individual person and imagine the universe of intelligences and their many combinations from which he or she emerged – from stardust to earth matter composed of many minerals, solar energy to plant matter, air, water and other organisms all of which have been consumed and used by generations of ancestors and down to his or her parents whose combined semen and ovum, as products of their inner manufacturing processes, emerged as his or her fetus. The fetus expands through consumption of various intelligent units of food that helped in performing the function of growth and expansion till the full-fledged human being is born. From a systematic combination of intelligences over time, an intelligent pattern called a human being emerged. In other words, each individual human is a universe emerging out of a universe of intelligences that have converged in systematic ways over the ages. You are therefore a Cosmic Emergence!
You emerged out of your mother’s womb as a final product of the various combinations of elements and processes that create the human body. Your being is composed of the same material that the earth is composed of – your physical body is made up of the minerals of the earth carried in the food your mother ate. From the surrounding air comes the life sustaining breath that fills your lungs and penetrates your cells. If your body is about 70% water, where did the water come from? Not to talk about the celestial and galactic origins of the physical matter that make up your body.
Recognizing this fact draws you to an awareness of the huge system of interactions that fashioned you as an entity. You can image the parental ancestors who had to meet to give birth to yet other ancestors in a continuous chain of different permutations and combinations that culminated in your being. Your forebears had to depend on the rivers, the plants, the sunshine, the air, animals, precious minerals and thousand other elements that facilitate life on earth. Their love, hate, thoughts, feelings and perceptions all combined in your make-up.
Like the African mystic always thinks, there must be a reason for everything even though it may not be readily apparent. For these many elements to come together to make your life possible, there surely must be a reason. You must be of great significance to Life’s purposes for great many generations of humans and other elements to come together to make your existence possible.
